Migrating from WhatsApp Personal or WhatsApp Business App
To migrate your existing WhatsApp Personal or WhatsApp Business App phone number to WhatsApp Business API, follow these steps:
Prepare for Migration
Backup Your Data: Before deleting your WhatsApp account, back up your chats and media files to prevent data loss.
iPhone: Use iCloud to back up your WhatsApp data.
Android: Use Google Drive to back up your WhatsApp data.
Delete Your WhatsApp Account
A phone number registered with WhatsApp Personal or Business App cannot be used for the WhatsApp Business API unless the associated account is deleted.
Steps to Delete Your Account:
-
Open WhatsApp and navigate to Settings.
-
Tap Account > Delete My Account.
-
Enter your phone number in full international format and tap Delete My Account.
-
Select a reason from the drop-down list and confirm by tapping Delete My Account.
Do ensure to backup your chats and media files prior to deleting your account, if required.
Set up WhatsApp Business API
Ensure you have access to the phone number to receive a One-Time Password (OTP) via SMS or phone call.
Once you migrate a phone number to the WhatsApp Business Platform, you cannot use that number on the WhatsApp Business App concurrently. Your number must be used either on the Business Platform or on the Business App.
Follow Meta’s registration process to set up your WhatsApp Business API account.
Seek Assistance if Needed
If you encounter any issues during the migration process, consult Dialogpay’s support resources or contact their customer support for assistance.
By following these steps, you can successfully migrate your phone number from WhatsApp Personal or Business App to WhatsApp Business API, enabling enhanced communication capabilities for your business.
